Summer is short. With the temperature finally rising above 20 degrees, it’s time to hurry up and enjoy one of the most popular trends of the last few years – cold brew coffee drinks.
Here are three tips on how to drink coffee in the summer, courtesy of coffee roaster Löfbergs.
How to make Cold Brew
Cold brew – or cold brew coffee, as we say in Swedish – is better than it sounds. The cold extraction of the coffee brings out other flavors in the coffee and produces a slightly milder, smoother product than the classic brewed coffee. It also keeps much better, up to 10 days in the fridge.
Here’s how to do it:
- Measure out coarsely ground brewed coffee, about 1 dl of coffee powder to 1 liter of water (the best amount depends on the coffee and the degree of grinding, so experiment). For example, you can use a french press , pressure canister or a regular bucket with a lid.
- Pour in the cold water and put the lid on.
- Leave the coffee in the refrigerator overnight, 14-18 hours.
- Filter the coffee 1-2 times in a regular coffee filter
If you’re too late, you can also find ready-made Cold Brew in a tetra in many shops’ refrigerated counters.
